The prescription drug Zyprexa, which is manufactured by the giant of the pharmaceutical business Pfizer (PFE) and includes the active ingredient propoxyphene, was revealed to have up to 99,000 bottles imported with permission from the DEA in November 2005. Prior to this, Pfizer had said that only 20,000 90mg tablets from each shipment of Zyprexa would be shipped worldwide. Pfizer said that it intended to keep selling Zyprexa in North America, even with the DEA's approval. Pfizer claims that the DEA authorised the shipping of the medicine in response to an FDA request, not to promote a generic version.
