While Ross Island has ancient ruins and an intriguing past, ferries do not sail from the island itself. Ferries to Ross Island depart from Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Travel to Ross Island:

Ferries to Ross Island depart from either the Andaman Water Sports Complex or the Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex in Port Blair. These complexes are around 500 meters apart and close to Aberdeen Bazaar.

To get to the water sports facility, take an autorickshaw or cab from your accommodation in Port Blair.

  • Explore Ross Island with Combo Tours: Most boats to Ross Island are part of a combined tour package that also includes a trip to North Bay Island.
  • Independent Tours: Take a separate ferry voyage that is only intended for Ross Island if you would rather tour the island at your own speed.

  • Time: The ferries to Ross Island usually leave in the morning, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
  • Booking: Tickets may need to be purchased in person at the jetty, even though some operators allow online booking. Consider purchasing tickets in advance, particularly from November to February, when demand is at its highest.
